Occupational Therapy (OT) is a healthcare profession that helps people of all ages do the things they need and want to do in their daily lives. Whether someone is recovering from an injury, managing a disability, or facing developmental or mental health challenges, occupational therapists work with them to improve their ability to perform everyday activities—also called “occupations.”

These activities can include anything from getting dressed, cooking, going to school or work, or participating in hobbies. OTs use a combination of hands-on techniques, adaptive tools, and personalized strategies to help people become more independent and confident in their routines.

In short, OT is about supporting people in living life to the fullest—physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) is a therapeutic approach that incorporates interactions with horses to promote emotional growth and healing. EAP is facilitated by licensed mental health professionals and equine specialists, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for participants.

Melody is a registered Occupational Therapist with advanced training and authorization to practice as a Psychotherapist. She brings extensive experience working across the lifespan—from pediatrics to geriatrics—providing compassionate, evidence-based care.

Melody currently specializes in supporting frontline workers and military personnel in their recovery and return to function following work-related mental health stress injuries. She also works closely with children diagnosed with Autism and other mental health conditions, helping them successfully integrate into school environments and supporting staff in applying inclusive, universal design strategies.

In addition to her clinical work, Melody holds a PhD and has completed Post-Doctoral studies in Rehabilitation Science, with a focus on community program design and implementation. Through her research, she has led the development, implementation, and evaluation of multiple community-based programs aimed at promoting meaningful engagement for individuals living with a range of mental health challenges.

Melody is also a certified therapeutic riding instructor through CanTRA (Canadian Therapeutic Riding Association), combining her passion for equine-assisted therapy with her commitment to holistic, client-centered care.
